Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Helmets have now been made compulsory for all staff and visitors coming on two-wheelers at the Police Radio and Dial-100 headquarters in Bhopal, officials said.

Moreover, those arriving by car or any other four-wheeler must wear seat belts. Security jawans have been deployed at the entrance gate to check every vehicle entering the headquarters.

ADG Sanjeev Shami has issued strict instructions and warned of departmental action against those violating these safety norms. The rule also applies to pillion riders, who must wear helmets without exception.

The rule is not widely followed elsewhere

The order follows directives issued earlier by the Transport Department, which made helmets and seat belts compulsory for staff posted in all government offices across the state. However, the rule is not widely followed elsewhere.

In this context, the Police Telecommunication Headquarters has become the first government office in Madhya Pradesh to enforce the rule strictly. ADG Shami himself is monitoring compliance, prompting staff to follow the directive seriously, mainly out of fear of departmental action.
