Balaghat (Madhya Pradesh): The district and session judge, Pranesh Kumar Pran, has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering his wife and imposed a fine of Rs 3,000 on him.
According to reports, the incident took place in Ameda village under Bahela police station in the Balaghat district on February 9, 2023.
The man brutally murdered his wife, Sarla Bavankar, who was a teacher.
The court delivered the judgement on Tuesday. A resident of Ameda village, 45-year-old Durgaprasad, aka Tailor, murdered his wife over a petty dispute.
According to the prosecution officer MM Dwivedi, Sarala, posted in Ameda School in Bahela village, was living with her daughters, Varsha and Janhavi, after a dispute with her husband.
On the other hand, Durgaprasad was living in Medhki village. On February 9, 2023, Durgaprasad went to the house of his wife and told her to stay with him, but she refused.
Sarla’s refusal enraged Durgaprasad, who whipped out a knife and stabbed her in front of their daughters.
Meanwhile, Varsha went to the house of their neighbour and informed her about the incident. Durgaprasad stabbed his wife 13 times, and she died on the spot. The attacker remained in the room until police arrived.
