Rajgarh (Madhya Pradesh): A leopard was found in an unconscious state on a road near Hanuman Garhi hillocks in the Gangajalia area, Narsinghgarh district, on Friday.

No sooner had the villagers come to know about the incident that they rushed to the spot to have a glimpse of the animal. Locals said the treatment of the ailing leopard began after two hours of information sent to the forest department.

Earlier, the big cat was sighted at several places in the forest area, but the foresters could hardly believe that it would be found in that condition.

When some locals saw the leopard, they informed the forest officials. It was then was rescued and sent to Chidikho reserve forest on the vehicle of legislator Mohan Sharma.

After the preliminary treatment, the big cat was sent to Van Vihar in Bhopal. Veterinary doctor Mahesh Suryawanshi said foresters had brought the ailing leopard to Chidikho reserve forest.

The big cat had some skin problems and was suffering from dehydration, Suryawanshi said. After giving first aid, he sent the 15-year-old male leopard to VanVihar in Bhopal.
