Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Capital Bhopal received 55mm-- record-breaking rainfall for this season—in the last 24 hours. Two gates of Kaliyasot dam were opened.

There is a heavy rain alert in a total of 34 districts in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday.

Heavy rainfall of 4.5 to 8 inches is expected in Bhopal and nearby areas-- Sehore, Vidisha, and Narmadapuram.

According to the Meteorological Department, an orange alert, or a very heavy rain warning, has been issued in 14 districts, and a yellow alert, or a heavy rain warning, has been issued in 20 districts on Tuesday.

Gwalior, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Sagar, Raisen, and Narmadapuram may receive very heavy rain.

There is a heavy rain alert in Guna, Rajgarh, Agar-Malwa, Shajapur, Dewas, Sehore, Harda, Betul, Pandhurna, Chhindwara, Seoni, Narsinghpur, Jabalpur, Dindori, Anuppur, Umaria, Katni, Damoh, and Panna.

Amid heavy rains in Narmadapuram, the DEO issued a 'rainy day' holiday for schools around 8:30 am; by then, many students had already left for school.

Carmel Convent and St. Joseph Co-ed School have been closed due to rains in Bhopal.

Nine gates of Tawa Dam and several gates of Bargi dam were opened amid heavy rainfall.

Incessant rains in Bhopal and Sehore caused the Kolans River to overflow, as the water level rose one foot above the threshold. The further led to a rise in the water level of Upper Lake, which is currently flowing at 1661.05 feet. The full tank level of the pond is 1666.80 feet.

In Raisen, low-lying areas, including Mahamaya Chowk, are flooded. A holiday has been declared at St. Francis Convent School.
