Madhya Pradesh July 24 Weather Update: Heavy Rain To Lash 20 Districts In State; Itarsi Faces Flood-Like Situation

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Due to an active monsoon system, many parts of Madhya Pradesh are seeing heavy rainfall.

On Wednesday, flood-like conditions were reported in Itarsi (Narmadapuram). Over 20 districts, including Bhopal and Indore, received rainfall.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for the next 24 hours in Vidisha, Sehore, Sagar, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Panna, Katni, Jabalpur, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur, and Umaria. These districts may receive up to 4.5 inches (about 114 mm) of rain.

Senior IMD scientist Dr. Divya E. Surendran said that both the monsoon trough and a cyclonic circulation are active. Madhya Pradesh may see heavy to very heavy rain in some areas for the next 4 days.

Rainfall status so far

This season, Madhya Pradesh has already received 21.1 inches of rain, which is 7.3 inches more than the average (14.1 inches) — a 53% increase.

Districts like Niwari, Tikamgarh, and Sheopur have already received 100% or more of their seasonal average. Tikamgarh tops the list with 38.2 inches of rain, which is 23.81 inches more than normal.

On the other hand, Indore, Ujjain, Shajapur, Burhanpur, and Agar-Malwa are behind, with less than 10 inches of rainfall so far.
