Narmadapuram (Madhya Pradesh): The administration has decided to vacate the government houses which have been allotted to those employees who are not eligible for it. After being vacated, such buildings will be allotted to those who are eligible for it.

Similarly, there are a few government residential buildings in Narmadapuram division, including those in the district headquarters. Several government offices are functioning from these buildings. Apart from that, there are still some buildings which are in a dilapidated state because of lack of maintenance.

Commissioner of Narmadapuram division KG Tiwari made the statement during an interaction with Free Press. Although the government has constructed big buildings to house offices, offices are functioning from residential buildings. Those who are eligible for government residences are forced to live in rented houses, and many are going up and down daily from home to office.

Tiwari said that complete information about government buildings was collected. An estimate will be prepared and a budget sought from the government to improve the dilapidated buildings, Tiwari said. He said that all the officers of the departments concerned had been directed to ensure that a few government houses had not been allotted to any ineligible employee.

Action will be taken against those employees who are living in government houses without permission, he said. Such employees will not only be asked to vacate the houses but also told to pay the rent in the treasury, Tiwari said.
