Madhya Pradesh: Forest guard attacked by poachers in the jungles of Raisen, sustains injuries

BHOPAL (Madhya Pradesh): Unidentified poachers opened fire at a forest guard when he tried to stop them from illegal hunting in the jungles of Raisen district.

The victim suffered a bullet injury in his right hand and was undergoing treatment.

The Udaipura police said there were a few unidentified miscreants roaming in the Chhikra beat of the forest department with guns.

Guard Santosh Sharma and other guards spotted them and reached them. When asked about the purpose of carrying guns in forests, one of the accused tried to run away.

Sharma chased him and held him but one of the miscreants opened fire at Sharma. He sustained a bullet injury in his right hand, said police.

The guard rushed him to the hospital with help of locals.

A case was registered with the police on Sunday night.

In charge of Udaipura police station, Prakash Sharma said that the number of accused is yet to be ascertained as the guards have not seen the accused. One of them opened fire at him, said Sharma.
