Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Police have intensified their investigation into the suspicious death of Dr Richa Pandey, whose body was found in her flat at Sky Dream Colony under Shahpura police station on Friday. On Sunday, officials recorded the statements of her family members, who have alleged that she was murdered by her husband, Abhijeet Pandey.
The post-mortem report, released on Saturday, pointed to suspected poisoning as the cause of death. However, Richa’s father, Vinod Chandra Pandey, and mother, Renu Pandey, insist that it was not a case of suicide but a planned murder. They claim that Abhijeet, a doctor himself, had been engaged in suspicious activities, which Richa had started to uncover.

The family alleged that transgenders frequently visited Abhijeet at his clinic, which Richa found disturbing. They also discovered syringes in Abhijeet’s car and demanded that police investigate their purpose. A crucial revelation came from Richa’s last message to her brother, Himanshu. She had called her father on Thursday night, complaining of stomach pain and seeking medical advice. An hour later, she sent a PIN code to her brother via WhatsApp.
It was only after her death that Himanshu realised it was the password to her phone. Police officials said that all possible angles, including the family’s allegations, are being thoroughly examined. Abhijeet is being questioned, and forensic analysis of the evidence, including syringes, is underway. Cops are working to determine whether Dr. Richa’s death was a case of suicide or something more sinister.
