Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Flaying the BJP government for alleged rampant corruption during its tenure, Congress MLA Jaivardhan Singh stated that the case of Saurabh Sharma reflects 20 years of BJP’s corruption.

Speaking in the Assembly during the Motion of Thanks to the Governor’s address on Tuesday, the Congress leader termed it the biggest scam of the BJP government in its entire tenure. “We want to see how a car can carry 50 kg gold bars and cash of Rs 11 crore. The state government should create a museum and keep it there for all to see it. We have also come to know that there were five cars,” said Jaivardhan.

The Congress MLA tried to corner the government pointing at its ‘failures’. MLAs of ruling party and opposition are regularly raising the issue of illegal tolls, but the state government is not paying any attention, he further said. “Do not play with the land of Simhastha, because many eyes are targeting it; the land belongs to Mahakal and must be kept safe,” said the MLA. He also claimed that the state government was taking loans merely to pay off the interest on the previous borrowed money. “This is affecting the development of the state, the money which could be used for primary infrastructure is being spent on settling the loan interest,” he said.

Raising the issue on Ken Betwa, Parwati-Kalisindh-Chambal river link project, the Congress leader seeking details of the water sharing, stated that huge stretches of land in Madhya Pradesh have been included in the project and so the state should have its water share allocation accordingly. He also demanded that MLAs should be given power to write the CR of the block level officers, so that these officials shall know how to respect the elected public representatives.

Congress stages walkout

During the discussion, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar raised the issue of a fewer number of principal secretary rank officials and ministers presence during the Assembly proceedings. Ajay Vishnoi who was presiding over the session also agreed with the LoP’s statement. The minister Parhlad Patel intervened claiming that most of the ministers were present in the assembly. However, the Congress MLAs staged a walkout from the House in protest.
