BHOPAL: Difference of opinion among Congress leaders over the celebrations of bhoomi pujan in Ayodhya has come to light.
Congress MLA Laxman Singh did not agree with the celebrations by state party president Kamal Nath at the PCC office.
The utterance of Jai Shri Ram, bid to raise religious issues and purification drive will not benefit the Congress, Singh said, adding that, the party should raise people-centric issues.
If the Congress raises such religious issues, the BSP will get the benefits in the by-elections, Singh said.
The party should speak about people’s welfare to get benefits in the ensuing by-elections.
About the issue of muhart (auspicious time) of the foundation-laying ceremony, raised by former chief minister Digvijaya Singh, Laxman said such issues should not be put up.
Nevertheless, former minister Sajjan Singh rubbished Laxman’s statements. Verma said Congress’s decision to celebrate bhoomi pujan in Ayodhya was correct.
