Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Deceased woman Congress leader Sarla Mishra’s brother, Anurag Mishra handed over a complaint at TT Nagar police station against former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh and others.

Mishra demanded an investigation into the death of his sister. Sarla Mishra died of burns she received in a fire at her residence in TT Nagar in 1997. Police have filed a closure report in the case around a month back. However, the court has issued instructions for re-investigation.

Anurag Mishra said that the complaint has been filed as per instructions of the court. My sister was killed and the incident was shown as suicide to cover up the crime, he added.

Mishra claimed that those involved in covering up the case were the then in-charge TT Nagar police station SM Zaidi, Dr Satyapati, Dr Yogiraj Sharma, Mahendra Singh Karchuri and others. Moreover, police should also investigate the roles of former CM Digvijaya Singh, his brother Laxman Singh and their political aides.

Mishra said the investigating officers deliberately showed negligence in investigating the case and did not record statements of all family members. The FSL team did not collect samples and clues from the spot. Instead, the evidences were removed.

The Judicial Magistrate (first) Bhopal also mentioned in the order issued on April 16 that investigating officers showed massive negligence in the case. The accused showed the incident as suicide while the evidences found at the spot indicated towards murder, Mishra added. In-charge at TT Nagar police station Man Singh said a complaint attached with a court’s order has been received from Anurag Mishra demanding re-investigation of the death of his sister Sarla Mishra. Further action will be taken following investigations, he added.
