Under sharp fluctuation, consumption of chilled water and prolonged stay in AC have created health problems

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Cold, cough with sore throat cases increased by 20 per cent with fluctuation in temperature in Bhopal. Air-conditioning has worsened situation and doctors have advised people to avoid chilled water and stay away from AC.

Temperature fluctuation ranged from 42 degrees to 32 degrees Celsius in Bhopal in May. The exposure has triggered many problems for people. Under sharp fluctuation, consumption of chilled water and prolonged stay in AC have created health problems.

Dr Ravi Chaturvedi of JP Hospital informed Free Press, ‘There is a sharp fluctuation in temperature. From 42 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius fluctuation is really harmful.

Cases of cold and cough, under such situation is on the rise. Air conditioning has worsened the situation. There has been around 20 per cent surge in cold, cough and sore throat cases in Bhopal. People have to take precaution as far as exposure to heat is concerned.

Children who are already facing health issues in scorching heat like diarrhoea and dehydration, should be careful with fluctuation in temperature. Queues can be seen at counters in hospitals and people are mostly suffering from fever with cold and cough.’
