Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasised the importance of assessing the work of police personnel across districts and divisions in the state, aiming to enhance their credibility among people. Speaking at the inaugural session of a two-day IPS meet on Friday, he said that police officers should be recognised for their contributions, as such initiatives would improve their standing in the public eye.
The IPS meet, which will conclude on Saturday, provided an opportunity for police personnel to engage in recreational activities with their families. Praising police work, CM Yadav said, "Civil servants work for the state, but police officers serve society more directly."
During the session, CM Yadav felicitated Rashmi Jain, police station in-charge of Bhamori-kala in Tikamgarh, and the district SP, as their station was selected by the Union government as one of the best in the country. The CM also addressed the issue of "criminal tribes," specifically mentioning Naat and Banjara communities. He said that these tribes were wrongly labelled as criminal by the British government for their own purposes. According to Yadav, these communities were historically known for their skills in spying and border protection, providing valuable services to kings.
CM Yadav also encouraged police officers to remain united and avoid undermining their peers. He illustrated this point with an example, urging a collaborative approach to their duties. Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana highlighted the state’s efforts in addressing new challenges, such as cyber fraud, drug abuse, and traffic hazards, besides efforts to combat Naxalism. He said that over 10 lakh people had been educated on cyber security through a state-wide campaign.
