Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav Orders Safety Measures For Devotees Following Maha Kumbh Stampede (WATCH)

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In response to the tragic stampede at Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has directed the Chief Secretary and Commissioner of Rewa Division to ensure adequate safety arrangements for devotees traveling from Madhya Pradesh to the religious gathering.

Emphasizing the need for strict precautions, CM Yadav instructed officials to strengthen security measures at the Madhya Pradesh-Uttar Pradesh border to prevent any untoward incidents.

Expressing his condolences to the victims, CM Yadav spoke to press, saying, "Yesterday, on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, a tragic incident occurred during the 'Sangam Snan.' Many lives were lost. May their souls rest in peace. I have received information that three of the deceased were from Madhya Pradesh. I urge everyone to stay safe wherever they are."

CM Yadav is currently on a four-day visit, seeking investment opportunities and inviting industrialists to participate in the Global Investors Summit (GIS), scheduled to be held in Bhopal on February 24-25.

Stampede Claims 30 Lives

The stampede, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, resulted in at least 30 fatalities and 60 injuries, according to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Kumbh, Vaibhav Krishna. Among the deceased, four were from Karnataka, one from Assam, and one from Gujarat. Twenty-five bodies have been identified, while 36 injured individuals are receiving treatment at a local medical college.

In response to the tragedy, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced financial assistance of ₹25 lakh for the families of the deceased. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also ordered a judicial inquiry, directing a judicial committee to submit a report on the incident within a specified timeframe.
