Madhya Pradesh: Chhath celebrations allowed with restrictions in city

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Citing the rising Covid-19 cases in the city again, protocols to prevent the spread of coronavirus will be enforced during the four-day Chhath festival.

The biggest festival of Sun worship - four-day Chhath Festival will start on Monday.

The main event of Chhath Mahaparv will be on 10th November (Wednesday). This will be on the date of the Shukla paksha of Kartik month. On this day, women and men will worship the Sun god

Chhath Mahaparva will conclude on November 11 (Thursday) after worshipping the Udayan Sun by devotees.

Due to corona outbreak and pandemic, last year the devotees of Poorvottar Sanskritik Sansthan living in the city had created artificial ponds in the campus of their homes.

This year since Covid-19 is comparatively under control, the community has been allowed to celebrate the fest on lakefronts in the city.

Under the leadership of the Poorvottar Sanskritik Sansthan Sanskritik community, Madhya Pradesh, the district administration gave the permission to celebrate the fest.

Chhath Puja organising committees have been instructed to ensure that a large number of devotees are not gathering on Chhath ghats. Further, community president Thakur Jagdish Singh appealed to the community members to follow necessary protocols of preventing the spread of coronavirus.

Community spokesperson KK Jha said, "Chhath Puja is organised in more than 80 places in the areas of the city and its surroundings, where devotees of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh will offer Arghya to the sun,” Jha said.

Chhath Mahaparva will be organised at various places in the city. Major celebrations will be seen in scheme No 54, 78, Banganga, Sukhliya, Shyam Nagar, Tulsi Nagar, Pipliyahana Pond, Cat Road, Kalani Nagar, Aerodrome Road, Silicon City Dewas Naka, Rau, and Pithampur.

November 8: Start of Chhath Puja from Nahi Khay.

November 9: Dharna

November 10: Chhath Pooja, Drowning Sun is Arghya.

November 11: Rising the sun to the sun, Chhath Pooja.
