Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Town and Country Planning Amendment Bill was passed by the Assembly on Monday. The bill, which was tabled by the urban development minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, was passed after discussion.

The MLAs of ruling party claimed that the bill would open new arena of development for farmers. Congress suspects that it would benefit those people more who grab land of farmers.

Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar said, “Why does government need several and different authorities. It should be made clear about acquisition whether compensation will be given as per Land Acquisition Act, 2013”. Congress MLA Bala Bachchan said, “This amendment will affect 88 villages of Indore, 32 villages of Dewas, land of Simhasta, and a plan to shift whole Singrauli to another place. This bill will affect the farmers”.

MLA Mahesh Parmar said farmers of Ujjain were unhappy. If the House does not pay attention to this, the farmers will be forced to commit suicide. Minister said that through this amendment bill, rights have been given to development authority.

Farmers will be given 50% developed land. This method has been used in Indore. This amendment is for projects of more than 40 hectares and more than Rs 500 crore. This will increase the price of land by more than 10 times.
