Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Disciplinary action against employees during their service will have an impact on their promotions. The government has clearly mentioned this aspect in the new promotion policy.

In the policy, the government has also mentioned the kind of punishment and that of its impact on the promotion of an employee. If an employee is censured as part of disciplinary action, he will not get any promotion for one year from the date of censorship.

If the negligence of any order causes financial loss to the state exchequer, the money will be recovered from the employee’s salary. After a year of the recovery of the money, the staffer will get a promotion, the policy says.

If the increment of any employee is stopped, he will not get promotion until his increment is restored.

If there is any remark in the punishment of an employee that he should not be given promotion in the future his case will never be considered for elevation to the next position.

In the policy, there are clear provisions for CR, assessment of marks, fixation of posts and salary after promotion. Because everything has been mentioned clearly in the promotion policy, the departmental promotion committees (DPCs) have hardly anything to do.

The DPCs can select an employee for promotion only on the grounds of the policy.

Action against staffers for not taking over next position  

If an employee does not take over charge within two months of promotion, he will face disciplinary action. Such employees will be deprived of promotion for five years.

If disciplinary action is taken against any employee after DPC, his promotion will be stopped.

In case an employee does not want promotion, he has to give it in black and white by August 31 of the year of selection that he is not interested in promotion.
