Lead actor says theatre  always scared him

Bhopal: Veteran TV and film actor Kanwaljit Singh was in the city of lakes along with other star casts of the show ‘Dil DeKe Dekho’ on Wednesday. The show will air on October 18 every Monday to Friday at 8.30pm on SAB channel.

Talking to media persons at Jehan Numa Palace hotel, Kanwaljit Singh who is playing role of oldest character Hridayanath Shastri, said, ” I wanted to be a soldier and I took exams for recruitment to armed forces many times but due to some reason I couldn’t get selected. At the same time, I also had crush on acting. After lot of struggle, I got role in film and serials.

I always prefer to work in film and serials, not theatre because here we get chance of retake but it’s not so in theatre. That’s why I keep myself away from theatre. From the very beginning, I was scared of theatre,” added the ace actors.

Some other actors of the show including Preet Chopra, Abhishek Bajaj, Anju Jadhav, and Amit Tandon were present on the occasion and shared their experience with media person.

Set in Delhi, Dil DeKe Dekho is the story of two families, the Shastris and the Chopras who happen to be neighbours. Coincidently, the singles from each family find a love interest in the opposite’s house.

The show will present a unique facet of love, how each generation struggles with it and how they perceive and interpret it. The oldest character Hridayanath Shastri, Kanwaljit Singh, a widower, gives a second chance to love at this stage of life and tries to woo his neighbour Tulsi Chopra, Navneet Nishan, who is an ex- stunt woman from Bollywood. On the other hand, the middle-aged couple spent their heydays in search of their respective soul mates without realising that their true love is right next door.

The generation Y, the youngest in both the families, grandchildren, Rahul Shastri and Preet Chopra have a different and modern take on love altogether.
