Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Former chief minister Uma Bharti has said that knowledge has no age and that there are certain professions in which one can work until the last breath.

Let the organisation decide the time of retirement of a person, she said. She made the statement on Friday, reacting to the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s remark on retirement after 75 years.

According to her, she has the age to remain in politics, and if the party wants her to contest an election, she will be ready for it.

There is probity in politics, but there are shortcomings in officialdom, she said, adding that IAS and IPS officers should also maintain probity as politicians do to check corruption.

Her family had to face a lot of problems from 1990 to 1992 and from 2005 to 2013. The period Uma was talking about pertained to the tenure of Sunderlal Patwa and Shivraj Singh Chouhan as chief ministers.

Her name was unnecessarily dragged into the Vyapam scam only to harass her, Uma said. About the de-addiction campaign launched by the government, she said, “The government can ban liquor whenever it wants.”

It is under the total control of the government, she said, adding that a campaign is necessary to launch a drive. This is the reason that she is running the campaign, she said.
