Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced that women will be given ₹3,000 a month under the Ladli Behna Yojna.

Yadav virtually made the announcement from a private hotel in Khajuraho, as he could not reach the venue of the event at Gaurihar in Chhatarpur on Thursday.

A gust of wind accompanied by rain blew away the tent from where he had to address the meeting. The helipad was also filled with rainwater. He said the Ken-Betwa Link Project will leave Punjab and Haryana behind in terms of growing crops.

Alcohol and drugs ruin a family, he said, adding that the farmers will get electricity for ₹5 a unit. Yadav was accompanied by BJP’s state unit president VD Sharma, in-charge minister of the district Aidal Singh Kanshana and several politicians.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi sanctioned ₹1,000,00 lakh crore for the Ken-Betwa project, Yadav said. The farmers will be given pumps varying from 2 HP to 10 HP so that they do not have to pay electricity bills.

Yadav further said the government was working to encourage animal husbandry.

The state will give financial aid to those who keep more than 25 cattle and buy milk and ghee from them, he said.

Yadav also spoke about Modi’s Bhopal trip on the occasion of the tercentenary of Queen Ahilya Bai.

The government is also working for the welfare of women and farmers, he said. The Chief Minister said the government had banned liquor in 19 religious places.

To provide instant medical aid to accident victims and critically ill patients, the government has launched air ambulance services, he said. He advised the people not to sell the land given by their ancestors.

In any emergency situation, they should take loans by mortgaging their houses, Yadav said. He also urged the people not to spend a huge amount of money on the wedding ceremonies of their children and cited his own example.

Yadav said he had celebrated the wedding ceremony of his son in the presence of only 50 guests. The Chief Minister laid the foundation of development projects worth crores of rupees and inaugurated some projects.
