Kota boy makes obscene video calls from US numbers, held

State police cyber cell on Friday arrested a 19-year old student from Kota for making video calls and showing his private parts to a girl who is a local resident. The accused was making phone calls from mobile phone numbers of the US. He used mobile phone apps of virtual numbers to make calls. The accused is fond of porn movies, a reason he harassed the girl. Accused Rohit Soni alias Golu of Bhilwara, who wants to be a doctor, studies at a coaching institute in Kota.

Superintendent of Police (cyber cell) Jitendra Singh said girl had lodged a complaint in September 2018. The victim employed as a teacher in a private school stated in her complaint that someone is sending obscene messages and making video calls on her WhatsApp messenger.

After taking the written complaint, SI Amod Singh Rathore was instructed to investigate the matter. During the investigation, it was found that the numbers from which the accused made phone calls were of the US. The callers changed the numbers every time. Cell officials sent six legal letters to WhatsApp headquarter but didn’t get the details.

Later, SP Singh contacted WhatsApp officials and informed them about the case after which the officials provided information. A case under Section 354-D of IPC and Sections 67, 67-A of IT Act was registered and a team of inspector Rashid Ahmad, SI Rathore, Reena Chouhan, head constable Ramprakash Bajpai and Dinesh Sourashtra were sent to Kota from where they arrested accused Rohit Soni. Soni told cyber cell officials that he is a student of a medical coaching institute in Kota. He was influenced of porn movies due to which he committed crime. A mobile phone and SIM used in the crime were also recovered from the accused.
