Bhopal: The project of supplying water in Kolar, which was inaugurated with much fanfare by local MLA Rameshwar Sharma, has not been executed fully. The water from Kerwa was to be supplied in December 30 but the residents who have taken water connection are waiting for regular water supply. Worse, Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has failed to repair the road, which was dug up for installing water pipelines.

Phase 1 of Palace Orchade where overhead water tank was inaugurated on December 25, has yet to receive water connections. Water works executive engineer Avinash Shrivastav said that the water supply is regular but sometimes a snag develops in the pipeline. “This is reason water supply gets affected.” He also said that the restoration work of the road, which is dug for laying down the pipeline will start soon.

Chairperson of Palace Orchade phase 1, Neerja Vishwakarma: I was unaware of the scheme. Of late, when I came to know about it, the residents of my society held a meeting and we spoke to municipal officials about it.  A resident of Amarnath colony, Dhirendra Singh said that the water connection was taken at the earlier phase of the scheme. “We are still awaiting water supply; as sometimes it comes while on some days we need water tankers.”

Manoj Chowdhary, resident of Amarnath colony: I was the first citizens who procured water connection for Rs 10,000, which was high rate. Even when water is supplied, we get dirty water as BMC avoids checking. Diwakar Prasad, a retired banker and resident of the area: Water connection rate is Rs 15,000 but they charge Rs 10,000. Even after taking the money, water supply is not regular though the project was inaugurated one and half months ago.
