Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The state police will extend its 'Jan Suraksha Yuva Srijan Samvad' (Public Safety and Youth Engagement Dialogue) initiative to tehsil-level schools from Sept 15 as part of its second phase.
This initiative aims to disseminate information regarding police services, cybersecurity, and legal awareness to students in rural areas and small towns as well.
During the first phase, students in government, PM SHRI, and Sandipani schools are being informed about police functioning, the law, safety measures, and protection against cybercrimes. This campaign, which began on Aug 5, is being conducted in two phases.
In the first phase, police officers and experts are interacting with students to familiarise them with police services. Along with explaining the operations of police stations, control rooms, and the 'Dial-112' service, students are being taught how to seek police assistance during emergencies.
Their queries are also being addressed by answering their questions during these interactions. The first phase is currently underway and will continue until Sept 14, after which the second phase will commence.
Cyber safety takes centre stage
At Sandipani School in Rajgarh, Shashank Yadav, an expert from the Cyber Cell, educated students on preventing cybercrimes through activity-based learning. Using examples related to fake links, online fraud, and digital security, students were advised on how to stay vigilant against cyber scams. Meanwhile, at the Utkrisht Vidyalaya (Model School) in Narsinghpur, Superintendent of police Dr Rishikesh Meena interacted with students.
He explained the functioning of 'Operation Aparajita' and the 'Nirbhaya Mobile' unit, which are operational in the district to ensure the safety of women and girls.
Officials at Police Headquarters believe that providing students with information about the law and police operations at a young age will give a practical understanding of safety. With this objective, the scope of the campaign will be expanded in the second phase to include schools at the tehsil level.
