Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Jal Ganga Conservation Campaign, a key initiative of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, aims to ensure adequate drinking water supply by enhancing water storage. Minister for Public Health Engineering and in-charge minister Sampatia Uikey directed officials to implement the campaign on a large scale with public participation. She gave these instructions during a meeting with district officials at the Singrauli Collectorate Auditorium.

The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Rural Development Radha Singh, MLAs Ram Niwas Shah, Rajendra Meshram, Kunwar Singh Tekam, and Vishwamitra Pathak, Mayor Rani Agarwal, District Panchayat President Sonam Singh, Collector Chandrashekhar Shukla, and other senior officials.

Minister Uike emphasized that drinking water shortages begin in March, making large-scale conservation efforts crucial. She directed officials to deepen rivers and ponds, renovate water bodies, and build soak pits near hand pumps. She also instructed the Public Health Engineering Department to repair malfunctioning hand pumps and activate water supply schemes. For areas without pipelines or hand pumps, water tankers will be deployed.

Each district will have a hand pump mechanic, and their contact details will be displayed in panchayat offices. She also stressed that newly sanctioned hand pumps must be installed promptly. The minister directed that all water-related inaugurations include local MLAs, panchayat members, and community leaders to ensure transparency and participation. Municipal officials were also instructed to maintain water supply in urban areas.
