Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): As many as nine accused of the mass murder case in Jabalpur’ Patan area over gambling have been arrested on Tuesday, as disclosed by Jabalpur police during a press conference.
Notably, four youths were brutally murdered with sharp weapons in Timri village under Jabalpur’s Patan police station jurisdiction. The devastated family members staged a protest and blocked the roads demanding justice.
The police also started searching for the accused and arrested them within 24 hours. Seven accused were arrested from a hotel in Pachmarhi, while two accused were nabbed from different spots of Jabalpur.
Murder was planned!
According to police, the mass murder was ‘planned’ and executed in Timri village of Jabalpur over an old enmity between two families, Pathak and Sahu. In fact, the dispute between the two parties stemmed during the panchayat elections.
In the incident, four people were killed in broad daylight and two were left injured.
Several charges against 6 accused
It was revealed that the accused had called victims to the tea stall deliberately with the intention of murder. They even brought dangerous weapons including swords, axes and sticks with them and attacked them fatally.
The deceased were identified as Satish Pathak, Manish Pathak, Aniket Dubey, and Sameer Dubey. Those injured include Bipin Dubey and Mukesh Dubey.
According to Jabalpur SP Sampat Upadhyay, all the accused had fled to Pachmarhi right after the murder,. However, nine accused identified as Narayan Sahu, Chandrabhan Sahu, Dinnu Sahu, Manoj Sahu, Sarvesh Sahu, Vivek Sahu, Amit Sahu, Pradeep Sahu, Sandeep Namdev have been arrested and are under interrogation at present.
An FIR has been registered against all the accused under relevant sections. Several cases are already registered against six of the nine arrested accused, the police informed.
Additionally, Nunsar outpost in-charge was line attached for the negligence. Further action would be taken on the basis of other findings.
