Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Railway passengers in central India may face disruptions in early June as 18 trains passing through New Katni Junction (NKJ) will be cancelled due to major railway construction work. The Gondia-Barauni Express will also be diverted during this period.

The railway authorities are working to connect a new card line between Katangi Khurd and Jhalwara stations. This will also link the Katni Grade Separator. The project required a halt for certain train operations, which had been approved by the South East Central Railway.

No need to change engines at NKJ anymore

Once the new connection is completed, freight trains from Bilaspur to Singrauli will no longer need to change engines at NKJ yard. This will reduce the load on NKJ, helping passenger trains to move faster and avoid delays at outer signals.
