BHOPAL : The Meteorological department has adopted wait and watch policy over the movement of a cyclonic storm ‘Hudhud’, which has formed in the Bay of Bengal and is expected to hit the Odisha coast by October 12.
Earlier, Bhopal experienced isolated rain in the evening. For the last couple of days, it has been raining off and on. The Weatherman describes it as post-monsoon effect. On Tuesday also, it rained at isolated places in the city.
According to the Meteorological Department, the cyclone appeared on Monday as a low pressure over the south Myanmar coast and adjoining Andaman Sea, and is likely to be concentrated into a depression.
“We have adopted wait and watch tactic as cyclone has formed and stationary there.
If it moves toward Madhya Pradesh then it will have impact in the state otherwise not”, Met office said, adding, “Sometimes, it takes some other direction so it is quite premature to predict the nature and effect of Hudhud”.
If the predictions come true, Hudhud will be first cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal, north Indian Ocean cyclone season, an event in the annual cycle of tropical cyclone formations in the two main seas of the country, the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, met office added.
