Helmet drive: Two-third violators prefer fine to films

BHOPAL : Sixty-five bikers were shown films while 123 preferred to pay fine during helmet checking drive on Thursday.

SP Traffic T Amogla Aier, addressing the training workshop, said, “People should put on helmets. It is not a headache to carry but it is must for the safety”. Police department is organising friendly training and then they were shown video films about road accidents.

Traffic police carried on vehicle checking at 15 prominent squares and tri-sections. Those who had put on helmets were distributed toffees and those who had not put on helmets, action were taken under motor vehicles Act.

Traffic DSP MS Bhadauria said, “We are carrying on an awareness drive as well as helmet checking drive. On Thursday, 65 were shown the films related to traffic rules and importance of helmet at police control room if they don’t pay fine. There are two options-either watch movies for at least two hours with us or pay fine if you have not put on helmet”.
