Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Gwalior Police gave a special New Year gift to citizens by returning 675 lost mobile phones, worth ₹1.6 crore, to their rightful owners on Wednesday.

The Cyber Cell of Gwalior traced these phones through the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal in the last three months. Senior Superintendent of Police, Dharmveer Singh, handed over the recovered phones to their owners, bringing smiles to their faces.

In 2024, the Cyber Cell successfully recovered 2,092 lost phones worth ₹5 crore.

SSP Dharmveer Singh said that from October to December 2024, the team tracked and retrieved 675 phones of different brands using the CEIR portal. These phones were traced from more than six states across India.

How To Get Your Phone Back?

The CEIR portal, launched by the Government of India under the Department of Telecommunications, allows individuals to block their lost or stolen phones.

When a complaint is registered through the portal, the police can easily trace the device and return it to the owner.

The initiative highlights the effective use of technology by Gwalior Police to assist citizens and combat phone theft.
