Four, Including Couple, Arrested For Smuggling Drugs Worth ₹2.6 Lakh In MP's Jabalpur

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Four people, including a couple, were arrested in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur for smuggling ganja on Thursday.

The action was taken under an anti-drug campaign directed by Jabalpur Superintendent of Police Sampat Upadhyay. 

According to information, a joint team from the Crime Branch and Gorabazar Police seized a total of 13.2 kg of ganja, estimated to be worth around ₹2.65 lakh.

The Crime Branch received a tip-off on May 7 that some people were waiting near Shani Mandir in the Khalkatola area to sell ganja. Acting on the same, a team led by Gorabazar Station in-charge Raman Singh Markam and the Crime Branch raided the spot.

Four suspects were detained on the spot, including a couple and two other men. During interrogation, they identified themselves as Radha Sonkar (35), her husband Golu Sonkar (39), Saurabh Lodhi (24), and Mahendra Singh (27).

Anti-drug drive to continue

Police found a packet of ganja in Radha Sonkar’s bag. Golu Sonkar was also carrying a bag containing another packet of ganja and a mobile phone. 

Five more packets of ganja and a mobile were recovered from Saurabh Lodhi’s trolley bag. Additionally, Mahendra Singh had four packets in his backpack, along with a mobile phone.

In total, police seized 13.2 kg of illegal ganja and three android mobile phones. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act (Section 8/20), and all four accused have been arrested.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional SP Sonali Dubey. Police stated that the anti-drug drive will continue, and strict action will be taken against anyone involved in drug trafficking.
