Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) on Monday cracked down on the interstate movement of substandard milk products amid supplies of mawa and milk cake from neighbouring states such as Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan.
The FDA has intensified checks on consignments entering Madhya Pradesh from these states.
After the Maharashtra Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) crackdown on milk and dairy adulteration, suppliers have increased supplies of mawa and milk cake to Madhya Pradesh.
The development has brought the interstate movement of such products under greater scrutiny.
Around 316 kg of mawa and milk cake, valued at approximately Rs 78,000, was seized during the operation by FDA in Bhopal on Monday. The mawa consignment was booked in the name of Arihant Dairy, Bhopal.
The total quantity was 150 kg, with an estimated market value of Rs 45,000. The milk cake consignment was booked in the name of Lovely Sweets, Sabzi Mandi, Bhopal. The total quantity was 166 kg, with an estimated market value of Rs 33,000.
FDA chief officer Shivraj Pawak said the department conducted intensive checks at the ISBT and Nadra bus stands on Monday as part of its drive against food adulteration.
“In wake of the Raksha Bandhan, FDA team conducted an intensive inspection drive on Monday at the ISBT and Nadra bus stands, aiming to prevent food adulteration and ensure the availability of safe food products for consumers,” Pawak said.
He said a special check was conducted on mawa and milk cake being transported from Nagpur to Bhopal. At Nadra Bus Stand, the consignment was seized over suspicions regarding adulteration or quality, and samples were collected for testing.
