Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Economic Offences Wing has registered a case against five persons including a builder and government employees for causing loss of ₹13.32 crore to the state exchequer by mentioning fake address of land in registering the documents, said police on Monday.

The EOW DG Upendra Jain said that the builders and buyers Vivek Chugh, Hitendra Mehta, Ajay Kumar Jain, deputy registrar Sanjay Singh and Amresh Naidu, the senior district registrar, Indore district, were involved.

The buyers with the help of officials of department of registration and stamp duty purchased the land in a prominent colony in Indore where the land costs ₹50,800 per square metre. They purchased it for ₹14,200 per square metre and caused loss to state coffers.

The officials uploaded the fabricated map and mentioned that the land is situated on Manglia village road in Indore in place of the posh colony. They showed the urban area land in rural belt where they had to pay less registration fee and stamp duty. Due to the fabricated details, the state government incurred loss of ₹13.32 crore. The police have registered the case under BNS and Prevention of Corruption Act.
