Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Despite a surge in Covid-19 cases and rising complaints of viral fever-like symptoms across Madhya Pradesh, Covid testing remains severely limited.

Currently, only AIIMS and Chirayu Medical College in Bhopal have been authorized to conduct RT-PCR testing. No other government hospital in the state has begun testing for Covid-19, and the same is the case in the private sector.

Health authorities are yet to issue any formal directives for initiating testing at other government-run healthcare facilities. Chief medical and health officer (CMHO) Dr Manish Sharma told Free Press that in the government sector, only AIIMS has facilities for RTPCR testing, while in the private sector, Chirayu Medical college and hospital has been authorized for testing. In JP Hospital, no facility is available as no further order from the health department has been given.”

Ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW), Madhya Pradesh has reported 137 active cases in the state taking the tally to 203 and toll 4. In four Covid deaths, three were reported from Indore and one from Jabalpur. All the patients who scrummed to Covid were women in Madhya Pradesh.
