Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Police are scanning past criminal records of a middle aged man who has been arrested by the police for molesting a six-year- old girl under Gandhi Nagar police station on Wednesday to ascertain if he was involved in similar crimes earlier.
Police on Thursday produced the accused before court and sent him to jail.
Meanwhile, the victim is still in a state of mental shock and is being counselled to help her recover.
The parents of the girl and other family members are labourers and were away on work when their neighbour identified as Ankur in his fifties molested her.
The girl informed her family about the ‘bad touch’ when they returned. Taking immediate action on the complaint, police registered a case and arrested Ankur and recorded statements of the victim.
Police officials said that the accused claimed that he found the girl alone and lured her to a deserted spot and molested her.
The accused denied his involvement in similar crimes earlier but efforts were underway to establish if he has any past criminal record, the officials added.
