Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Residents of capital city continue to face civic issues as more than 2,300 complaints remain unresolved at Bhopal Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) Mayor Helpline desk. Among these, the highest number of pending complaints over 1,400 is related to problems caused by street dogs.
More than 240 complaints regarding sewage blockages and repairs, along with approximately 210 complaints concerning non-functional street lights, including smart lights, are yet to be addressed. Apart from these, around 380 complaints spanning various departments such as building permits, health, water supply and encroachment remain unresolved.
According to an official report from the Mayor Helpline desk, a total of 1,943 complaints were registered in February, out of which 1,176 were resolved by February 18. However, out of the total 2,300 pending complaints, nearly 25 have remained unresolved since 2023, while more than 850 complaints are still pending from 2024.
Mayor personally monitoring issue
Mayor Malti Rai assured that she is personally monitoring the issue at regular intervals. She mentioned that due to continuous engagements, she was able to visit the Mayor Helpline office after a month on Tuesday and instructed officials from concerned departments to expedite the resolution process. Rai also stated that she would conduct another visit in coming days to review the progress of complaint resolution.
