Sadhna Singh may contest by- polls

BHOPAL: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, who won assembly elections from Vidisha and Budhni seats, has surrendered Vidisha seat. Chauhan tendered his resignation from Vidisha seat on Friday. Prior to his surrendering Vidisha seat, Chauhan visited it twice with a team of top level officials led by chief secretary Antony De Sa. These visits were an indication to public from Chauhan that he would give personal attention to the development of Vidisha.

Assembly principal secretary Rajkumar Pandey has accepted Chauhan’s resignation from Vidisha seat and now the latter would be MLA from Budhni seat.After Chauhan relinquishing Vidisha seat, it is learnt that his wife, Sadhna Singh Chauhan will contest bypolls from Vidisha seat. Local leaders have also written to Chauhan to consider his wife to contest bypolls.

When former finance minister Raghavji got stuck in a sexual abuse case, the party was consideration to change its candidate from Vidisha seat. Amidst a tug of war between aspirants, Chauhan, at the request of leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj decided to contest fromVidisha seat. Chauhan’s surrendering Vidisha seat might lead to factionalism in the party. Raghavji may demand his daughter Jyoti Shah to be made party candidate in the bypolls. On the other hand, former MLA Gurusharan Singh is also gearing up to forward his daughter Sukhpreet Kuar to be given ticket and contest Vidisha bypolls.
