Bhopal(Madhya Pradesh): Habibganj police on Friday arrested the caretaker who allegedly assaulted and threatened the retired DGP of Madhya Pradesh HM Joshi (99) at his residence in Arera Colony area on Wednesday.

An FIR was registered against caretaker Sheikh Rafiq and Shakti Khare, the operator of the agency through which Rafiq was hired by the retired DGP, the police said.

Sanjeev Choukse, TI at Habibganj police station said the accused caretaker Rafiq is a resident of Shyam Nagar and was appointed around one-and-half months back.

During questioning, he confessed to have assaulted the retired official. However, no past criminal record of Rafiq was found yet. Investigations revealed that agency operator Shakti Khare did not carry out verification of Rafiq before his appointment at the retired DGP’s residence following which he has also been named in the FIR.
