BHOPAL : Anti-ragging committee of Barkatullah University on Tuesday finalised measures and awareness programme for curbing ragging, following complaints.

The committee presided over by vice-chancellor MD Tiwari, got the report about ragging cases. A fresh complaint was filed by a student of MP Ed in physical education department, who said a youth, passed out two years ago, was living in hostel at present and harassed him.

The committee decided that CCTV cameras would be installed outside boy’s hostels, besides bio metric equipment to mark attendance of hostellers. Senior professors and hostel wardens will launch special drive to check ragging cases. “The committee finalised detailed programme at par UGC guideline for preventing ragging cases. The university officials and hostel wardens have been told to put a check strictly on the menace,” said proctor AK Pathak.

University administration will check outsiders and others who had passed out but were still living in hostels. FIRs would be registered against such outsiders. Orientation programme will be organised for seniors and juniors along with poster campaign. The university sources said police had been informed about ragging case reported in physical education department.
