Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): An imposter was caught for duping a youth of Rs 9 lakh, promising a job as a food inspector in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior. The accused posed as a fake CBI officer and even used a nameplate of the Chairman of the Human Rights Commission on his car.
The victim, identified as Amit Singh Rawat, lodged a complaint against the accused, Manoj Shrivas, who changed his name to Mohit Shekhawat. Following which, police made a plan and nabbed Mohit.
According to information, the duo met on a matrimonial app where Amit was searching for a groom for his sister. Mohit introduced himself as an officer in the CBI, emphasising that he has good contacts in several departments. He even offered him a job as a food inspector in exchange for Rs 9 lakh. Amit fell into his trap. Amit, somehow, managed to collect the money with the help of his relatives and gave it to him.
Fake Appointment Letter!
Following this, Mohit took Amit to Bhopal and handed over a fake appointment letter. Before giving the appointment letter, he also financed a car. It's on the day of the appointment; when Amit reached the office, he realised he was duped. He immediately lodged a complaint.
Police said that a few days after the incident, Amit spotted Mohit roaming in a mall located at Phoolbagh in Gwalior. Amit called his friends, and they caught him. Janakganj police station reached the spot and arrested the accused. When the accused was questioned, accused Mohit Shekhawat revealed his true name, Manoj Shrivas, a resident of Gohad in Bhind.
