Post the accident, the angry locals torch the tanker
BHOPAL: A tragedy struck the city on Sunday when a BMC water tanker crushed a four-yearold child to death in front of his mother. The accident took place in Habibganj area where post the accident, the angry locals torched the tanker and blocked the road demanding compensation for the family of the child. The police said four-yearold Hasin Ali was going with his mother and when they neared the Janata Quarters a BMC water tanker crushed the child.
Some eyewitness of the incident said Hasin was on the side of the road with his mother and the incident took place following the negligence of the tanker driver. The tanker driver managed to flee and the angry locals torched the tanker and blocked traffic. Hasin’s father Wasim is a resident of Mandideep and works as a labourer.
He had come to his brother- in-law Anwar’s house in Janata Colony for whitewashing the house for an upcoming marriage in the family in November. Hasin was the youngest among the three children of Wasim. Hasin’s mother Saima fell unconscious after seeing her child being crushed by the tanker and an inconsolable Wasim also reached the spot on hearing of the mishap. Senior police officials rushed to the spot and assured the family of compensation by the administration. A case was registered against the BMC driver and the police are looking out for him.
