Bhopal: Youths Commit Thefts For Paying EMI Of Costly Mobiles, Nabbed

The two youths have been arrested and the stolen goods worth Rs 50000 were seized from their possession, police said.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Passion for costly mobiles landed two youngsters in jail. The duo purchased costly smartphones on installments and committed thefts to pay the EMI. The two youths have been arrested and the stolen goods worth Rs 50000 were seized from their possession, police said.

TT Nagar police received complaints regarding multiple cases of thefts at paan kiosks and shops where unidentified burglars stole cash, cigarettes etc. The police station TI Sudhir Arjaria formed a team to crack the thefts which scanned over 50 CCTV cameras at the crime spots and identified two suspects.

Following a tip off on Wednesday, the police nabbed the two suspects who were identified as Manswi Gahwade aka Chocolate (20), and Anand Meena (21) aka Golu Dhatura residents of slums at Tulsi Nagar.

During interrogation the duo confessed committing thefts at kiosks and other shops. Manswi purchased a mobile worth Rs 39,000 while Anand also bought a mobile worth Rs 23,000 on instalment from a mobile shop.

However, the duo failed to pay the EMI for the phones for the past three months and was afraid that the mobile shop owner would take back the smart phones. The duo committed thefts and were planning to sell the stolen goods for paying their EMIs, TI added.
