Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A youth created a fake Facebook profile of a girl student, introduced her as a call girl and posted her mobile number, asking people to call her.
The accused did it to take revenge from the girl, as the latter had scolded him and also warned not to harass her younger sister lest she would lodge a police complaint.
The victim, a resident of Bhopal, has been preparing for competitive exams. She lodged a complaint at crime branch police here that she receives over 100 phone calls a day from an unknown number and callers ask her to have obscene chats.
Following complaint, police registered a case and started investigation. The police zeroed in on a 23-year-old Amit, a resident of Vidisha. He was later arrested, police said on Saturday.
During course of investigation, the accused revealed that he was stalking girl’s younger sister. When she came to know, she scolded him and also threatened him to lodge a police complaint if he does not stop calling her sister.
To take revenge from her, the accused obtained a SIM card using fake documents and later made profile on Facebook in the name of complainant. Subsequently, he stole some photographs of girl’s original profile and uploaded them in fake profile, mentioning mobile number of complainant.
Additional superintendent of police Ankit Jaiswal said the accused mounted pressure on girl’s younger sister to meet him otherwise he would keep harassing her elder sister. “He has been arrested and investigation is on,” Jaiswal said.
