The four-day 27th Iftekhar Smriti Natya Evam Samman Samaraoh ‘Yaadein’ began with classic play of Mohan Rakesh ‘Aadhe – Adhure’ on Thursday at Antarang Hall of Bharat Bhawan. The realistic play, which talks about the tragedy of middle class family was directed and conceptualised by well-known theatre actor and art director Jayant Deshmukh and presented beautifully by MPSD’s students. The story of play unfolds on a meticulously designed set reflecting the sixties decor, a house in a state of mess and decay and where the problems are as elusive to comprehend as the solutions. Apart from acting, realistic set, costumes, lights, props, music and make-up, of the play were one of major attraction of the play which fascinated the theatre buffs a lot. Besides play, a felicitation ceremony was also held. Senior theatre artists Akhilesh Jain and Kamal Jain were felicitated with “Rang Gaurav” and “B. V. Karanth Kala Sadhna Samman” respectively. Noted theatre and film actor Rajeev Verma was present here as chief guest. Even after the play has been staged several times in the Bhawan as well as in the city but a huge of theatre lovers was seen.
