Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Department of Higher Education has decided to start counseling for its UG (Undergraduate) and PG (Postgraduate) students who are still unemployed.
The plan that was made in 2019 could not take off because of corona pandemic but now the department officials have decided to give final shape and start in this academic session.
Some colleges have even started this project at their own level. The higher education department has asked all the colleges to prepare list of UG and PG pass out students. After this, college staff will trace students to find out what they are doing.
They will inquire whether pass out students are employed or they have become entrepreneurs. The college staff will also ascertain if they are still unemployed. A lot of students remain unemployed even after completing their UG or PG course.
Such unemployed students will be identified and invited for special counseling sessions. The department has constituted a team of counsellors to guide such students. Besides regular professors, some professional career counsellors will also remain part of the team that will provide guidance to students and assist them in finding employment.
Besides, a separate record check is being conducted for girl students. In this exercise, the officials first see how many girl students took admission in first year and how many reached the next class. If there is a gap in number of students, then the staff tries to find out if the girl has failed or left studies.
They will also find out how many girl students got employment after completing their degree course or how many chose to become housewife after marriage.
