BHOPAL: Revenue minister Umashankar Gupta unveiled the mascot and the emblem of ‘Oorja’ – the Under-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament being organised under the auspices of CRPF, MP Sector at a function here on Friday.
The programme is aimed at identifying young and talented footballers and popularising the game in India before the Under-17 Football World Cup-2017 to be played in India in October this year.
Senior police officers, including ADGs KN Tiwari, RK Tandon and SL Thousen were present at the programme at Rabindra Bhawan. Latika Bhandari, international taekwondo player and brand ambassador of the tournament was also present.
Addressing the curtain-raiser programme, Pankaj Kumar, IG, CRPF, MP Sector said the tournament would be played from May 8 to 15 in which eight men’s and an equal number of women’s teams from different districts of the state would take part. The inaugural and concluding functions of the tournament will be held at the TT Nagar Stadium. The matches will be made at Barkatullah University grounds.
