Bhopal: Swachh Bharat mission capacity building workshop held

Bhopal: The Swachh Bharat mission capacity building workshop was organised in Administrative Academy on Friday, which was attended by as many as 276 representatives from across 16 states of the country. The delegates had come all the way to get acquainted with the steps taken by civic body towards the cleanliness drive which bagged it awards and accolades.

Minister Maya Singh, mayor Alok Sharma and municipal commissioner Chhavi Bhardwaj were also present in the workshop. On the occasion, Maya Singh said the impact of cleanliness drive was being manifested as 434 cities across the country were boasting of cleanliness status which was better than their past.

Singh added in the recent cleanliness survey, Bhopal stood second only after Indore which was declared cleanest city in India. She also said MP had bagged the top rank with 22 cities declared clean, then it would not be an exaggeration. She, however, stressed that bagging a slot was tough but maintaining the position there was tougher.

On the occasion, principal secretary of urban development and environment department Malay Shrivastav, commissioner of urban administration Vivek Agrawal, collector Sudam Khade were also present. In the workshop, comics books based on Chacha Chowdhary with the message of cleanliness were also distributed.

Mayor Sharma then said the corporation is mulling to send persons wearing costumes of Chacha Chowdhary in schools to spread the message of cleanliness. On the occasion, CDs based on Swachh Bhopal song sung by Kailash Kher and series of Bhopal ka Naara, were also released.

Mayor also attributed the success of the cleanliness drive in Bhopal to the sanitation workers and also shed light on the efforts made by his team during the drive including “rook took abhiyaan, door to door garbage collection and others. As many as 150 representatives from different municipal corporations will pay a visit to the city on Saturday.
