Bharatiya Janata Party’s MP from Mandla Faggan Singh Kulaste has been trapped in a sting carried out by a private channel. When the channel told him that he had spent Rs 12 crore on his election campaign in 2014, he said that it may have been between Rs15-20 crore.
Staffers of the channel went to him in the guise of officers of a company to give him donation for his election campaign. He also told the channel that he had received funds from Indore and other places and he was ready to take the donation from the company. Kulaste told the channel staffers that lakhs of rupees were spent on various work in the tribal constituency he represents.
A huge amount of money is spent on polling centres and vehicles, and the party gives money in cash for that, he said, adding that he had received Rs 70 lakh in the last Lok Sabha elections. Although the Election Commission has fixed Rs 70 for poll expenses, Kulaste is speaking about spending crores of rupees. Earlier, Kulaste was caught offering cash for vote. Prime Minister Narendra Modi made him minister of state for health, but removed him from the post within a year.
