The corona patients undergoing treatment at Hamidia Hospital will now be able to communicate with their family members and relatives through video calling. The facility has been initiated to maintain social distancing and ensure that the family members keep in touch – from a distance - with their loved ones battling corona in hospital.
Divisional commissioner Kavindra Kiyawat issued instructions to this effect at a review meeting at Hamidia Hospital on Friday. Communicating with the family members would also boost the morale of patients and they would feel their family members were around and standing with them in difficult times.
Many families had complained that they were not able to hear anything from loved ones undergoing treatment at hospital. The aggrieved family had said that they were not apprised of the health updates and many a times they would hear from the hospital staff only about their demise.
They had registered their grievances with hospital administration and also took it to other forums, however, all in vain. Even doctors, whose family members were hospitalized for corona treatment, were not updated about their patient’s condition. They too had knocked every door to get any status of patient’s health.
The commissioner also instructed setting up a help desk. Soon helpline numbers will be released for the relatives. There will be a nodal officer or liaison officer to coordinate in the matter. GMC dean Dr Aruna Kumar, joint commissioner Anil Dwivedi and others were present in the meeting.
