Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 20-year-old engineering student raped a 10 Class girl in his rented room in the city. The incident was revealed when the victim was admitted to a hospital were doctors found her pregnant, leading to allegations of molestation and rape, Piplani police said on Wednesday.

Victim met the accused online a few months ago

The 17-year-old met the accused Ajay Gupta a few months ago on Instagram. The girl's family became concerned when she complained of severe stomach pain. Her pregnancy was detected during an examination at a nearby hospital. The hospital staff alerted Bag Sewania police who recorded girl's statement.

Initially, Bag Sewania police registered a zero FIR. On Tuesday, the case was transferred to Piplani police station under whose limit the alleged crime occurred.

Piplani police station incharge Anurag Lal said victim revealed that she met Ajay Gupta online and they started having conversations over the phone.

Accused called her at his place, molested her

In January, Gupta allegedly called her to his rented room in the city for a meeting. There, he allegedly coerced her into a physical relationship against her will. He continued to molest her, threatening to destroy her reputation if she spoke up.

Piplani police have formally registered a rape case against the accused under POSCO Act and launched a search for him. Further investigation is on.
