BHOPAL: Shahjehanabad police on Sunday presented Shivpuri-based painter Deepak Rajak (35), accused of killing his wife Poonam (28), in court, from where he was taken on five-day police remand for quizzing. There was no sign of repentance on his face.
On Saturday afternoon, enraged over his wife’s reported extramarital affair, he took her to Bhoot Bangla at Lalghati and slit her throat with radium cutter. When she tried to escape, he grabbed her and smashed her face with a stone. The accused then surrendered before Koh-E-Fiza police station around two hours later. He was unaware that Bhoot Bangla came under Shahjehanabad police station.
Deepak was suspicious of Poonam having an extramarital affair with cable operator Golu in Shivpuri. He had spotted Poonam chatting with Golu on his mobile phone and even after asking Poonam to end the relationship, she didn’t stop talking to her paramour. Rajak had reportedly seen his wife in compromising position with Golu.
CSP Shahjehanabad Sunil Shivhare said Poonam, 28, wife of Deepak Rajak, hailed from Gwalior. Poonam and Deepak came to Bhopal around 3 days ago and were staying at Deepak’s younger brother Sandeep Rajak’s house near Capital petrol pump in Subhash Nagar.
Deepak was planning to kill his wife for the last 12 days but was not getting chance. On Saturday around 3 pm he reached Bhoot Banglawhere the couple had heated arguments over her extramarital affair. Soon the dispute turned ugly and they had a fight. He even tore her clothes. During the quarrel he took out a cutter and slit Poonam’s throat and then smashed her face with stone. The body was found in a pool of blood. Blood spots were present on all the walls. The accused dragged her after holding her from hair.
